Privacy policy

Overview
Our Privacy Policy outlines the methods by which MappingWare (referred to as "the Website" or "we") acquires, utilizes, and reveals your Personal Data during your interactions such as visits or purchases on our website.

Data Collection
Each time you engage with our Website, we gather specific details regarding your device and interaction with the site, crucial for handling your transactions. Should you reach out for customer support, additional data may be collected. Within this document, "Personal Data" refers to any details that can identify you individually. The following enumerates the types of Personal Data we gather and the reasons behind it.

Device Data
We gather details like your web browser version, IP address, time zone, cookies, site navigation, product interests, and search terms primarily to enhance your website experience and for analytical purposes to improve our services. This data is gathered automatically through cookies, log files, and other tracking technologies and may be shared with Shopify, our service provider, for business reasons.

Transaction Data
We collect names, billing and shipping addresses, payment details (like credit card and IBAN numbers), email addresses, and phone numbers. This is to fulfill our service agreements, process payments, manage shipments, provide transaction confirmations, communicate updates, screen for fraud, and provide relevant product or service information according to your preferences. This information is directly collected from you and shared with Shopify as needed.

Support Data
We gather information such as your email to assist with customer support inquiries.

Regarding Minors
Our Website is not aimed at individuals below 18 years. We don't knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe that a minor has provided personal data to us, please contact us to have the data removed.

Sharing Personal Information

We share your Personal Information with service providers to help us provide our services and fulfil our contracts with you, as described above. For example:

  • We use Shopify to power our online store. You can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
  • We may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Using Personal Information

We use your personal Information to provide our services to you, which includes: offering products for sale, processing payments, shipping and fulfillment of your order, and keeping you up to date on new products, services, and offers.

Lawful Basis

Pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), if you are a resident of the European Economic Area (“EEA”), we process your personal information under the following lawful bases:

  • Your consent;
  • The performance of the contract between you and the Site;
  • Compliance with our legal obligations;
  • To protect your vital interests;
  • To perform a task carried out in the public interest;
  • For our legitimate interests, which do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.

Retention

When you place an order through the Site, we will retain your Personal Information for our records unless and until you ask us to erase this information. For more information on your right of erasure, please see the ‘Your rights’ section below.

Automatic Decision-Making

If you are a resident of the EEA, you have the right to object to processing based solely on automated decision-making (which includes profiling), when that decision-making has a legal effect on you or otherwise significantly affects you.

We do not engage in fully automated decision-making that has a legal or otherwise significant effect using customer data.

Our processor Shopify uses limited automated decision-making to prevent fraud that does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you.

Services that include elements of automated decision-making include:

  • Temporary denylist of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions. This denylist persists for a small number of hours.
  • Temporary denylist of credit cards associated with denylisted IP addresses. This denylist persists for a small number of days.

Your Rights - GDPR

If you are a resident of the EEA, you have the right to access the Personal Information we hold about you, to port it to a new service, and to ask that your Personal Information be corrected, updated, or erased. If you would like to exercise these rights, please contact us through the contact information below.

Your Personal Information will be initially processed in Ireland and then will be transferred outside of Europe for storage and further processing, including to Canada and the United States. For more information on how data transfers comply with the GDPR, see Shopify’s GDPR Whitepaper.

Cookie Duration

The duration a cookie stays on your device is determined by whether it is a 'persistent' or 'session' type. Session cookies remain until you end your browsing session, while persistent cookies stay until they reach their expiration or are manually removed. We primarily utilize persistent cookies which may remain for a duration ranging from 30 minutes up to two years from their initial download to your device.

Managing Cookies

Cookies can be managed in several ways. Remember, disabling cookies might affect your browsing experience and could limit access to certain sections of our website.

By default, most browsers accept cookies, but you have the option to adjust this through your browser's settings, typically found under "Tools" or "Preferences". For detailed guidance on adjusting cookie preferences, refer to your browser's help section or websites like www.allaboutcookies.org.

Be aware, blocking cookies does not guarantee that we will cease sharing information with third parties, like our advertising partners. For specifics on opting out from data usage by these entities, see the 'Behavioural Advertising' segment.

Do Not Track

Due to the lack of a unified industry approach towards "Do Not Track" signals, our data collection and utilization practices remain unchanged even when such signals are detected.

Policy Updates

Our Privacy Policy may be revised periodically to reflect, for instance, changes in our operations or for legal and regulatory reasons.
